CanSkate Hockey Skills
CanSkate Hockey Skills is an action-packed, high energy instructional power skating program geared to hockey and ringette skaters that focuses on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance.
When is it?
** WE ARE NOT ABLE TO OFFER THIS PROGRAM FOR THE 2020-2021 SEASON. **
Who is it for?
This is geared to skaters aged 6 or older who already have basic forward and backward skating skills (must be able to skate the length of the rink, using alternate strides) and are able to stop on command without the use of the boards.

NCCP trained CanSkate coach
What will they learn?
Skills, techniques and conditioning drills are taught in a progressive format that emphasizes how the skills apply to game situations.
What can you expect?
The CanSkate program consists of skills divided into six levels, arranged in progressions gradually increasing in complexity. Levels 1-3 focus on the fundamentals of skating while levels 4-6 focus on the acquisition of efficient technique, speed and agility.
What do you need to participate?
- CSA approved full hockey or ringette gear
What are the requirements to register?
- Must have completed one year Mites/Initiation or higher, or passed Stage 2 CanSkate. This will be validated by the coach before coming on the ice.
- Players may be asked to participate in the PreCanSkate program if the basic fundamentals are not met in the first session.
