JumpStart

 

JumpStart is designed to transition skaters into working independently. Lessons are taught in a group format with time for individual practice. 

When is it?

Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:00-4:45 pm

October 10, 2023 - March 7, 2024

Who is it for?

JumpStart is for skaters that have achieved a minimum Stage 4 CanSkate level and want to continue on the figure skating stream. Your child's CanSkate coach will recommend they move from CanSkate to JumpStart.

Who teaches it?

NCCP trained CanSkate coach

What will they learn?

Progression of balance, control and agility skills taught in the CanSkate program. Skaters learn to be more aware of the other levels of skaters on the ice.

What can you expect?

Action, movement and fun! Lessons are given in a group format using circuits with a coach to student ratio of a maximum of 1:10. Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches make sessions active using teaching aides, upbeat music and a wide variety of activities.

What do you need to participate?

  • CSA approved hockey helmet until Stage 5 is passed
  • Figure skates with proper ankle support – no molded skates or adjustable skates
  • Clothing that allows free movement

What are the costs and volunteer requirements?

$400.00

- 8 hours of volunteer time required

Please Note:

-Coaching fees are included for lessons and for Stettler's Future Stars Funskate Competition.  Participation is optional.

-All other in-town or out-of-town competition fees (entrance and coaching) are additional.  Participation is optional.
