WELCOME TO THE 2021-2022 REGULAR SKATING SEASON

Hello Skating Families,

Welcome to the Stettler Figure Skating Club's Regular Season! All of our programs begin this week and your skater's start date depends on what program you have registered them in. You will receive an email from your skater's coach with program specific details but I wanted to share some general skating club information.

PROGRAM TIMES, ARENAS, DRESSING ROOMS AND COACHES

CanSkate: Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:00 - 4:45pm (if you signed up for part time, then you will only attend Tuesdays OR Thursdays)

*BLUE ARENA - USE DRESSING ROOMS 3 OR 4*

Your coaches will be: Lisa Johnson, Kira Johnson and Kayla Robertson.
At 4pm, bring your skater to the ice where they will be met by a Coach or Program Assistant. Please leave the player's box area and proceed to the spectator stand. Spectators/families are not permitted in the players box during skating time.

JumpStart: Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:00 - 4:45pm

*BLUE ARENA - USE DRESSING ROOMS 3 OR 4*

Your coach will be Annika Ror
At 4pm, bring your skater to the ice where they will be met by a Coach or Program Assistant. Please leave the player's box area and proceed to the spectator stand. Spectators/families are not permitted in the players box during skating time.

Junior Star: Tuesdays 4:45 - 5:45pm (with Coach Kallie) & Fridays 3:45 - 4:45pm (with Coach Christy)

*BLUE ARENA - USE DRESSING ROOM 2*

Your coaches will be: Kallie Stewart (Tuesdays) and Christy Rivett (Fridays)

Talk to your coach (or any StarSkate coach) if you'd like to buy-on additional ice time and/or book private lessons (at additional cost)

StarSkate (part time or full time) - Monday - Friday, various times. Your skater will coordinate their skating times based on the ice schedule, and around their private lessons. If you have questions about what level your skater is, or what sessions they should attend on the schedule, please speak to your skater's coach.

Your coaches will be: Annette Lee (Mondays), Danielle Mohn (Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays), Christy Rivett (Fridays), and Kallie Stewart (Tuesdays)

COVID PROTOCOLS

All families will need to complete a SKATE CANADA WAIVER before their skater can step on the ice. We will have paper copies available to sign this week or you can print this form and hand it to a SFSC Board Member at the rink this week (we will have a table set up). Find the waiver HERE

Please review the Stettler Recreation Centre's current COVID-19 protocols HERE

Screen yourself and your child daily for COVID-19 symptoms and DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU OR YOUR SKATER HAVE SYMPTOMS
Wear a mask in the facility. Skaters may remove their masks right before they get on the ice.
Spectators - please distance yourself in the dressing rooms, spectator stands and lobby
If we are found not adhering to these rules and guidelines, we may risk losing future ice session(s). Please follow the rules so that our skaters can continue skating.

VOLUNTEER HOURS & VOLUNTEER CHEQUES

All families are asked to complete volunteer hours during the skating season to support the operation of our club. Volunteer opportunities will be communicated by SFSC Board members and the Volunteer Liaison.

Each family is asked to submit a postdated volunteer cheque in the amount of $250.00 (postdated to March 31, 2022 to Stettler Figure Skating Club). Please hand in your volunteer cheque to a board member this week when you arrive at the rink.

Use the VOLUNTEER LOG to track your volunteer hours and submit when completed to our Volunteer Liaison (Karla Klaus at sfscvolunteer@gmail.com) or to any SFSC Board member. Also use the log to determine how many hours your family is required to complete.

Our first volunteer opportunity will be our PURDY's CHOCOLATES FUNDRAISER. We hope to have brochures and online sales info to you next week, and all orders will arrive in time for Christmas. More info will be provided soon.

SPECIAL EVENTS

FUNSKATE: Assuming that restrictions allow, we plan to hold our FunSkate Competition January 22 & 23, 2022. This event is optional for skaters to participate in, and will have additional registration fees. This is a weekend where many volunteers are required, and we ask for raffle table donations as well.

YEAR END SKATING CARNIVAL: Assuming that restrictions allow, we plan to hold our Carnival March 19, 2022. Dress rehearsal would be held March 18, 2022 and pictures are often held this week as well. Participation in Carnival is optional. Many volunteers are required before, during and after the event. Some common costume items may have a small additional cost, or will be required to bring from home.
