RECRUITING FOR CANSKATE PROGRAM ASSISTANTS

                                                           What is a CanSkate Program Assistant?

CanSkate is a learn to skate program for ages 3+ and it focuses on teaching the basics of skating. A Program Assistant is an on ice coach helper for CanSkate. A program assistant helps set up sessions, keeps skaters engaged, helps lead group activities, encourages CanSkaters, and helps teach skating skills. We are looking for skaters who are: enthusiastic, punctual, reliable, coachable, and adaptable.

As a PA you gain volunteer hours which are needed for gym class. At the end of the season Program Assistants receive an honorarium. You get to share your knowledge with new skaters, and grow your sport. You get more ice time outside of your regular skating activities. Serving as a Program Assistant allows you to build vital leadership skills and gain practical experience that will look great on your resume.

CanSkate runs from October 13, 2026, to March 14, 2027, every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 to 4:45 PM. You can join us as a full-time PA (both days) or a part-time PA (Tuesdays OR Thursdays). For extra flexibility, you can commit to the full season, or just a single term (October–December OR January–March). Please note that sessions are cancelled on holidays, and you are not required to help with our end-of-year carnival.
